Tambayan is a 'tagalog word' associated to a designated place to wait. It is from here information are shared, opinions are made, destinations are set, plan of actions are decided, products are pedlled, and where everyone moves to the next step or place.

The sme:tambayan is the virtual space where people coming from the small and medium enterprises converge to build understanding, to start collaboration, to gain access, and to enjoy selling.

This knowledge motivated space believes in best practice - "not to re-invent the wheel". It searches, reviews, and posts re-usable and open content in the web that are applicable to the knowledge- theme that SME may be interested in the Phlippines.

The SME users are given the site links to the content sources. It is up for them to build meanings on the information, that will eventually bring decisions and actions.

The SME users can share their derivative content and experiences through the tambayansme forum or through the tambayansme blog and wiki.

The SME users are introduced to the best practice service frameworks on the use of information and communications technology to achieve the stategic goals of business. It provides guidance on the available technology that are free, shareable, modifiable, enterprise grade and open standard.
